“The July 7 London bombings did it for me,” writes Mona Eltahawy in Sunday’s Washington Post. “Perhaps it was because my parents moved us from Cairo to the British capital when I was 7 years old, and so London was my childhood `home.’ Or maybe it was because our route to work and school every morning crisscrossed those same Underground stations that were targeted.

“I’m sure it was also those dog-eared statements that our clerics and religious leaders read out telling us that Islam means peace — it actually means submission — and asking us to please forget everything they had ever said before July 6, because as of July 7 they truly believe violence is bad. Their backpedaling is so furious you can smell the skid marks.”

Mona Eltahawy – who lives in New York and writes for the pan-Arab newspaper Asharq al-Awsat – says it’s time for Muslims to stop saying, “George Bush… made me do it.”

“I never bought the explanation that U.S. foreign policy had `brought on’ the Sept. 11 attacks,” she writes, “and I certainly don’t buy the idea that the Iraq war is behind the attacks in London. Many people across the world have opposed U.S. and British foreign policy, but that doesn’t mean they are rushing to fly planes into buildings or to blow up buses and Underground trains in London.”

A London Telegraph poll suggests that a majority of British Muslims shares Eltahawy’s views – but a disturbingly slender majority.

Six percent of British Muslims – about 100,000 people – believe the July 7 attacks were justified. Twenty-four percent say they sympathize with the feelings and motives of the bombers. Eighteen percent (about one in five British Muslims) feel little or no loyalty toward Britain, and 33 percent say they are only “fairly loyal.”

A whopping 32 percent agree that, “Western society is decadent and immoral and that Muslims should seek to bring it to an end.”

    Morally decadent?

I think it is morally decadent to allow sex with animales (after they are butchered they have to be sold to the next village) als Ayatollah Khomeini ruled ( at faithfreedom.org ).

I believe it is morally decadent to kill ones sister because she ‘dishonored’ the family because she talked to another guy.

I believe it is morally decadent to justify terror and agree with it.

I believe it is morally decadent that a mother agrees that it’s child becomes a suicid bomber.

I believe it is morally decadent to talk to the west in one way and to ones own people in another way.

I believe it is morally decadent to become a guest in one country and let one sons become terrorists, terrorizing that very guest country.

I believe it is morally decadent to have hate mongers as leading clerics.

I believe it is morally decadent to vote for a ‘law’ called sharia were people (basically women) are whipped for ‘undecency’.

I believe it is morally decadent to kill people who believe in something else as one self.

I believe it is morally decadent to mutilate one daughters sexual organs

Those people have no clue what moral is, they take that word into their mouth and it comes out dirty.

    greetings

What does Mona Eltahawy plan to do now that she’s had it with islam?

What percentage of pollsters lied through their teeth?

I’m hopeful about the first but not the latter.

  3. Mr. Beamish says:

    J. Bargholz,

What percentage of pollsters lied through their teeth? I’m hopeful about the first but not the latter.

Haven’t you heard, J? In the wake of terrorism we’ve all accepted Islam.

This woman has probably been targeted for death for making these statements. She should try to get protection from the British authorities; if they won’t give any, she should seek asylum in the United States. I know she is truthfully defining the word Islam as “submission” (not peace), because when I took a certain interdisciplinary humanities course four years ago, that was exactly what the visiting Muslim professor (who came to lecture on Islam) said it meant–submission to God. However, I saw another source before that–I think it was a textbook account–which inaccurately says that “Muslim” means “true believer.” More recently I have learned that “Muslim” is nothing more than a cognate of Islam meaning “one who submits.”

    Mona Eltahawy states,

“Or maybe it’s the knowledge that the more these faceless cowards strike, the more Muslim men in the West like my brother are pushed onto the stage of suspicion. After the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Ehab — who spends virtually all of his time caring for his cardiology patients or fulfilling his role as husband and father — was one of the 5,000 Muslim men questioned by the FBI; two years later he was among the thousands more who had to submit to being fingerprinted and photographed as part of a special registration.”

It’s not going to get better madam, it’s going to get worse, and it already has, thank God!

    Here and
    Here!

Next, look for deportations, and the legislation to allow them en mass, for “expressing” treason! The GOP needs to try and work this angle in, to get Textualist judges confirmed!

  6. J. Bargholz says:

Mr. Beamish, after reading that article I’ve seen the error of my ways. I’m obviously a hopeless bigot with no true knowledge of the religion of peace. I will dutifully prepare myself for the blessings of dhimmitude.

The scariest part of that self destructive bit of propoganda was the scope of the alleged survey. Printed for all to see. Out of a population of three million, two thousand carefully chosen people were polled. An error margin of 2.5% was given. The fact that some people take this poll seriously scares the crap out of me.

  7. J. Bargholz says:

Oops! I meant to write “300 million.”

  8. Mr. Beamish says:

    Don’t fret, J!

  9. SicSemperTyrannus says:

    #3 Mr. Beamish

Those Pew polls surely do stink!

  10. Mr. Beamish says:

Nah. You just gotta decode them. Once you determine who actually knows the Quran is Islam’s holy book, you discover that 33 out of 100 in the group have studied Islam to some extent, and that 29 of those 33 have studied Islam to the extent that they realize it’s a threat against the West.
