A new Rolling Stones CD will bash President Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and the War on Terror, says today’s Drudge Report. Scheduled for September 9 release from Virgin Records, the album – called “A Bigger Bang” – features an anti-war song with the provocative title, “Sweet Neo Con.”

“You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite,” croons Jagger. “You call yourself a patriot. Well, I think you’re full of sh*t!… How come you’re so wrong, my sweet neo-con.”

Shocking! I was so certain that Mick would be reading Hayek and Sharansky during those long hours between heroin hits and blood replacements.

  2. ralphbprice says:

It is not surprising that this would happen. These celebrities and entertainers are so far out of the loop that they wouldn’t know the truth if it slapped them in the face. Laura Ingraham has it right, “Shut up and sing!”

  3. Richard Poe says:

ralphprice writes: “Laura Ingraham has it right, `Shut up and sing!'”

In this case, I’m not sure I want to hear him sing.

  4. Mr. Beamish says:

Kudos to Subtrrn for the judicious use of lethal rapier wit to dismiss Mick Jagger’s grasp of foreign policy and political philosophy.

I can’t add anything that wouldn’t be seen as dragging the corpse around.

  6. Sharikov says:

“Mick and Stones” – epitome of the ’60’s (and in many ways what culture still suffers from).
Perhaps the “lads” have not yet realized – the ’60’s ended 35 years ago. ‘Progress’ already.

  7. dgene says:

Mick is the more successful rocker, and Tony the Wannabe rocker. Mefears they both are inadequate in the war we have ahead of us (can Tony stay the course ?).

While we were victims on 9/11 these fools commiserated, some even held a concert for the victims.
But where are they when we must become winners.
These fools want us to lose.

  8. Republican says:

The Stones play music in red china. So they like to see unborn children cut from the belly at 8 months and stomped to death. Fuck them. If I were rich, I would take out print ads that showed the evil of red china and beside the pic would be a pic of those old rockers!

  9. Mikie says:

Stones, old hippies trying to be hip by bashing the right, how original! Mick ought to be ashamed of himself. Old OLD bastards!

  10. Rocco DiPippo says:

Mick, Keith, Charlie, (and whoever’s playing bass for them these days) – are living tributes to the embalmer’s art, and I see that the embalmer took special care in preserving Mick’s brain!

  11. Madzionist says:

An aging (ok, OLD) celebrity making a leftist political statement in his entertainment medium? WOW, this is a shocker. Well, being the “sweet neocon” that I am, let me just tell you that I’ve updated my blog.

    LoL!

I wonder how much the guy that digs them up in the morning gets paid a week?

They’ve been dead for years, especially Keith, they just haven’t dropped over yet!

  13. XTeacher says:

If you’re going to make a political statement in your songs, please write lyrics that don’t suck, Mick. I mean come on, I garage band full of 14-year-olds could do better.

God, you guys used to be so great. . . .

  14. metaphysician says:

It doesn’t matter. Nobody listens to his music anymore. Spandex was never intended to be worn by over 50 year old former accountants.

  15. Narwhal says:

Not much question about who the “Sweet Neo Con” is, we all know what he thinks about “Black Girls” because he wrote a song about it.

We also know where his sympathies lie, because he wrote a song about that too.

Speaking of the Devil, he’ll be meeting him soon enough because of what he did to Brian Jones.

  16. Mikie says:

Jagger said today that his song did not target Bush. He must have seen the bad PR this crap generated and the potential $ lost and changed his tune (so to speak).

While everyone is still on topic, this neo-con bashing both from the Left and the Right reminds me of the bashing anti-Communists had during the Cold War when the Communist-led anti-Vietnam movement took shape in the Sixties. Just thought that would be interesting to share.
