Shadow Party, Shadow Government

Wikipedia defines the term “shadow government” as “a `government-in-waiting’ that remains in waiting with the intent to take control of the government in response to some event.” (1) (hat tip, Red Hot Cuppa Politics). I’d say that pretty well sums up the thesis of our forthcoming book The Shadow Party.

FrauBudgie at Red Hot Cuppa Politics notes:

“I’ve talked about how the mainstream news occasionally overlaps with `news of the weird’.

“Well, it’s happening again, with the term Shadow Government. Lots of people have been throwing it around…

“[I]t was a little jarring to me when I heard Rush Limbaugh refer to the `Shadow Government.’ He was referring to the Clintonista leftovers still entrenched in federal bureaucracy…

“In 2003 [actually 2004, RP], David Horowitz also wrote about a `Shadow Party,’ (and I did blink at the headline) but what he was referring to was a network of billionaires that contribute gazillions to 527 groups connected with Democrats. And, maybe there’s something to that one, too.” (2)

Yes, FrauBudgie, the word is getting around. Call it what you will – shadow government, shadow party – it amounts to the same thing; a cabal of elitist power brokers who have lost patience with America’s democratic process and seek to advance their agenda by other means.
