An After Action Report on my St. Jude Novena

A promise is a promise. I vowed that I would announce the results of my latest St. Jude novena, and so I shall. The results were… ambiguous! St. Jude always answers prayers, so I know something great must have happened. But I’m not sure what it was. More on this later.

My Nine-Year Journey with St. Jude

I’m very intrigued by your ambiguous results. I started my own novena three days ago, for help with a romantic relationship. I’d prayed the prayer previously for the same relationship and got great results, for financial help for myself, for which I received good results (not as fast as I’d hoped for but good) and for the financial good of another (in progress, very slow). I guess you could say up until now I’ve always had a yes answer, though this time the intention if it is answered yes might be a long way out. Either way, St. Jude has been very good to me, and I hope you have your full results soon. 🙂

Would love to know how your prayers were answered …

  3. Lester says:

Several years ago, St. Jude had always been one of my favorite intercessors to God and God always answers my prayers through him. I can’t even remember a prayer that has never been answered. In other words, God, through the powerful intercession of St. Jude, has never forsaken me. I feel very blessed that EVERY petition I ask through St. Jude was always answered the way I prayed for. There has always been a YES and has never been a NO. With these consecutive answered prayers, I was corrupted by the idea to “dictate” the Lord or St. Jude regarding my prayers and I grew to always EXPECT a yes.

Definitely, God taught me a lesson and somehow disciplined me by not giving me what I wanted for the first time. The prayer was answered, like how it always is, but this time, in contrary to what I request for. I became hysterical and lost my faith instantly to God and St. Jude. I became agnostic and had been an enemy and a critic of the church. My disappointment regarding my request consumed me and drove me farther and farther from God.

Then I met a girl from another religion. To make a long story short, we fell in love, and entered into a relationship. However, there is a catch. In order for us to be in a relationship. I had to convert. I agreed, for the sake of lustful intents of entering into a relationship with her. In addition, it had been so easy for me to convert, for my dead faith had let me to disregard religion.

The relationship lasted more than a year. However, it has been a lustful relationship and an unhealthy one. We did things which only married couples are blessed to do so. We never saw maturity with each other and the relationship even drew us away from our families and friends. It was like the two of us against the world.

Suddenly, she left me out of nowhere, telling me that she fell out of love. I thought I was left alone, but in my romantic solitude, I turned to my family and friends who never failed to love and care for me despite my abandonment. I renounced the religion where I converted to and returned to agnosticism.

While being agnostic, I gradually feel that blessings are slowly returning to me. I graduated from college and got a good job, I had deeper relationship with my family and friends, I notice maturity within me, but I still feel something missing. God and the Spirit. Though He is everywhere, I know that I keep rejecting Him inside my heart, therefore, my heart had no room for God.

Then through the great job which God has blessed me, I was exposed to do charitable acts and I even experienced working with nuns, priests and lay people. From them I felt again the warm brotherly love shared within the church which I despised for a long period of time. The kindness they showed me is like God’s call for reconciliation. I felt that God has been inviting His beloved lost sheep to His herd again.

And alongside my road to reconciliation with the Father, I met a lovely, kind and religious lady from work. She has been active in their church. I fell in love and asked her hands for courting. My love for her had been another instrument of God telling me to come back to Him. I confessed the lady that I failed God’s test of faith once, but wanted to “retake” it. However, I feel shy to show other people that I, a rational and skeptic person was once religious, and still is. She felt happy by learning that I am willing to regain my faith but advised me that if there is one thing that I could be PROUD of, it should be my faith in God. She told me that I should never be shy to show my faith in the Supreme Being Who never failed to love His children. And that is the thing I have been working on.

At present, I’m still at the process of regaining my old faith and when I do, I’ll continue to propagate it. To help me with this, I tried to visit the parish where I was baptized. As I entered that church and visited the Baptistry, I somehow had a vision. A vision of an infant me, being held by my mother as the rest of the family witness and rejoice in my baptism. Tears began to come out of my eyes as I picture the most important event of my life. Though I had no memory of it, God, through my heart, let me pictured it as how it happened.

After the very emotional and spiritual feeling, I tried to observe other features of the church. Not so far from the baptistry, I saw an image of St. Jude, to whom I seek assistance countless of times. I KNOW THAT ST. JUDE IS ONE OF THOSE IN HEAVEN WHO ASKED GOD TO MAKE ME COME BACK! I started praying for his intercession again, after almost 6 years of a life without prayer.

This time, I asked for his assistance in my petition to God that He may guide me in courting the lady from work. For everyone’s information, it happened that her attitude towards me had been changed. She had been awkward and aloof for more than a week now. I don’t want to lose hope and give up on pursuing her heart. I know and I feel that this lady is the one I am searching for. The one I envision as my wife and the mother of my children. I know that she can lift me up in despair and regain my faith when it is lost.

Now I am asking for St. Jude’s intercession for the Holy Spirit’s guidance. May the Spirit awaken my heart and show me the right way of channeling my love to her, that she may learn to love me back, and soon enter into a relationship with the hope of one day she will be the one I share with the Sacrament of Matrimony.

The Bible says: “Ask, and you shall receive; Seek, and you shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened to you.” I started by life of prayer over again. It is now my fourth day of novena to St. Jude, but I believe that the request should be said with: 1) a faithful heart; 2) a pure and good intention; and 3) the intention to turn away from sin. Later this afternoon, I am planning to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I know that with the Sacrament, I shall complete my journey of returning back to God. After being forgiven, then and only then I shall count it as the first day of my nine day devotion of scheduled prayer to St. Jude; nevertheless I shall offer a lifetime devotion to his kindness.

Please pray for me, beloved brothers and sisters, regarding my reconciliation with God and my petition to St. Jude. I shall also pray for everyone who prays with the intercession of St. Jude with a faithful heart, pure intention, and a plan of a renewed life; a life away from sin. Let us pray for each other as what a community of believers must do.

Thank you and God be with you all!

St. Jude Thaddeus, pray for us!

  4. Mascarenhas says:

The first time I prayed to St. Jude was in the beginning of March 2014. My sister and me were having visa problems. We both have lived on foreign ground all our lives and when the issue of our visa came up we had to go back to our home country leaving our mom and brother behind. This was very difficult for us. Our mom was doing her best to get us back but being of a certain age we weren’t able to acquire a visa.

We then started the 9-day Novena to St. Jude. On the 4th day our prayers were answered. A family friend helped us and we were able to get back to our family. Since then I’ve prayed to St. Jude at every difficult moment. Again I prayed for my accountancy exam. I’ve done a degree in art and am now pursuing business so the shift was really difficult. The results are still to be announced but the paper went amazingly. After that I was due for surgery. I was really worried but everything went well again. There’s usually pain after surgery. I barely felt any. I’m healing really well and am very thankful.

I also prayed for a particular friend — we were insanely close but due to some differences weren’t in touch for a while. He knew about my surgery but not all the details. After I gained consciousness from the surgery he and a few other close friends greeted me. It was amazing because I really did not expect to see him and it felt really great.

There are many other times as well. I’m right now praying for a petition extremely significant to me.

Thank You St. Jude for all prayers answered — others’ and mine. Please give me strength to continue praying even when everything seems so wrong.

    Thank you, St. Jude, always.

  5. J. says:

I am in the midst of doing a novena to St Jude. I will not give up! I am in a most difficult, desperate situation involving theives on all sides. I have a non-paying tenant, a dishonest contracted buyer trying to buy the house for almost nothing and changing the rules every day. These people are thugs. I have a great lawyer, who has never seen anything like this in his life, and is frustrated at every turn to help me. It’s way too complicated to even explain here.

Every time it looks like I am about to triumph, something sets us back again. I have everyone I know praying to St. Jude for me, and I pray to him several times a day. Again, I will not give up.

When I have an answer to declare here, I will post it. I have no doubt that there will be an answer, and St. Jude will not let common thugs rob a senior citizen in desperate times!

Just finished my novena to st. Jude- praying for a good place to rent -due to landlord selling our place-things are very
hard to find. On the 3rd day, I felt prompted to look on a site that I would normally not look at- I saw what looks
like a perfect little place, with reasonable rent, across from a park, etc. It was only on the site for a couple hours
and then taken off ( I assume too many calls on it) Anyway I have an appt to see it today.Thank you St. Jude.

  7. C. says:

As a fallen-away Catholic and ex-seminarian, I, too am praying to St. Jude and awaiting a result.

I’m praying about a future prospective relationship which, silly as it may seem compared to the needs of others, is very, very important to me. The nature of this request could take over a year due to circumstance, or maybe something even better will happen. It’s been a couple days since I finished a few of the novenas so I should publish now. But already good things have happened, and once before St. Jude answered a prayer at least twice as impossible, and probably less worthy of Heaven’s time. God with with you all.

Thanks to St. Francis Xavier for answering my prayers.

Many thanks from this sinner, C., to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Jude the Great Saint of Hopeless Causes, and to St. Therèse the “Little Flower”: for prayers answered once, and yet again, and for prayers about to be answered!

O HOLY ST. JUDE, Apostle and Martyr, great in virtue and rich in miracles, near kinsman of Jesus Christ, the faithful intercessor of all who invoke your special patronage in the time of need. To You I have recourse from the depths of my heart and humbly beg you to who, God has given such great power to come to my assistance. Help me in my present and urgent petition. In return I propose to make your name known and cause your name to be invoked. Pater (x3); Ave (x3); Gloria Patri (x3). St. Jude pray for us and all who invoke your aid.

MAY the Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, glorified, loved, and preserved throughout the world now and forever. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Saint Jude, Worker of miracles, pray for us. Saint Jude, helper of the hopeless, pray for us. [8x daily for 9 days, and published as promised.]

Holy Spirit you who make me see everything and show me the way to reach my ideals. You who give me the divine gift to forgive and forget all that is done to me. You who are in all the instincts of my life. I, in this short dialogue, want to thank you for everything and affirm once more that I never want to be separated from you, and to continue my request for a certain girl known to you: that she sort out any complications in her life; that we recognize the good in each other; and, by your Will and permission, for a romantic relationship of C. with M. Amen. SACRED HEART of Jesus may your name be praised, adored and glorified throughout the world forever and ever. Amen.

O Jesus who has said “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you” through the intercession of Mary, thy most Holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer will be granted, ( in your Will, for the development of a true and romantic relationship of mutual love between C. and M., all problems being solved, complications removed, knots untied). O Jesus who said “All you ask of the Father in My name, He will grant you through the intercession of Mary, Thy most Holy Mother. I humbly and urgently ask thy Father in Thy name that my prayer be granted (that the Lord should build this relationship, even as a firm and steady house). O Jesus, Who has said “Heaven and Earth shall pass away but my word shall not pass”: through the intercession of Mary, Thy most Holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted (for this relationship according to your Will, mercy, love and understanding of human frailties and suffering.)

O most Beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven. Blessed Mother of the Son of God. Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein You are my Mother. O Holy Mary Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech You from the bottom of my heart to succour me in the necessity (we ask and beseech, that all negative influences be removed in the life of your handmaid, N., and even for a romantic relationship between C. and M. as the Lord should permit.) There are none that can withstand Your power. O show me herein You are my Mother. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee (x3). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (x3).

  8. Amy says:

I am praying to St. Jude right now. It is the final day of the Novena. I really need help in healing a romantic relationship. I know my situation will require patience, and I pray that St. Jude can help me remain faithful while I wait.

  9. Aron says:

I strongly believe that God has directed my petition to St Jude. And why do I say that? I have been praying to God, asking him to send me a sign of hope and to send me someone who will help me. How rightfully, a couple of days later, I went to the post office to check my mails and found amongst them, an envelope containing a prayer card of St Jude, the patron of hope and lost causes! I am struggling with my business and things have not been going very well for me. I have started on the novena and I pray and hope that my petition will be answered. Thank you St Jude for your prayers and intercession.

  10. Charles says:

My first novena to St. Jude resulted in an exact answer; just the way I wanted it. However, I had totally forgotten my prayers. On the final day of my answered prayer, by sister’s boyfriend handed me a statue for some unknown reason. When I took it home, I realized that it was a replica of St. Jude and he (St. Jude) was reminding me of my answered prayer.
Years later and in a similar circumstance, I asked St. Jude to “help me fine my way” as it seems that I am always broke, the most painful result being loss of relationships. For my second Novena, he clearly showed me that love is more important than financial gain and that my desperate desire for more financial stability was because I wanted to keep my girlfriend.
Now, summer has arrived again and I am yet in another similar circumstance as I have a seasonal job. Novena three begins today 🙂

  11. phyllis says:

want to thank st jude, yesterday was 9th day of novena, my husband called twice we are communicating more, please continue to pray for us, and i for you all, God Bless

  12. Yaritza says:

I will be starting my novena today due to some relationship issues. I fell out of love and I don’t know why. I want to love him again and hope we get married some day. I have the faith and hope that Saint Jude will help me get my love back for him and our relationship will be better than ever. On the eighth day of the novena I promise to visit a Shrine of Saint Jude as a sign of thanks. Thank you Saint Jude, I have faith and hope that you will help answer my prayer in this time of need.

  13. Jocelyn says:

Today is the first time I’ve heard of St. Jude. I’ve had life changing requests before and God has answered them. But this time I am really desperate and hopeless. My boyfriend left me out of the blue and we were planning to travel for a year, come back and build our own home. Thats how serious it was, until he met another girl a week before he broke up. This is the first time I see no hope. That’s why I started googling for miracle prayers and came across St. Jude. Reading these comments and reading about him really gives me hope and soothes the pain. But I am also scared that if he won’t come back I haven’t got over him because I spend my time hoping he’ll come back. And I also know God wants best for us and he might no want us back together again. I really want to believe and I do believe, but I have my doubts because it seems so unlikely he will return, despite the amazing relationship we had. Also time’s running out. The flights are booked for december and I really don’t want to go on this trip alone.
I am starting my novena today. It’s all I can do to change the situation I’m in.

  14. Chuck says:

I have prayed to Saint Jude countless times in my life, and he has always answered my prayers. Sometimes immediately, and other times when I needed it most. I am now in the midst of another Novena. I am praying for financial assistance for me. When my prayers are answered, I will publish my thanks again.

  15. Katie says:

By the third day of my novena, I have had the most important request answered: more patience with my children. I’ve asked for other blessings as well, but this one prayer is the most important to me; my children are my greatest gift from God, and I ask Our Lady in my nightly prayers to help me be a better mother tomorrow than I was today. I’ve concentrated on this desire to Saint Jude and have noticed a beautiful peacefulness that has replaced my anxiety and frustration, and I am so grateful! Moreover, I am HOPEFUL that my children will have the happy and tranquil and safe childhoods that I am determined to provide for them. Thank you, St. Jude. Thank you forever.

  16. YE says:

God, thank you for all the grace and favors which you have given me through the prayers of your Apostle, Jude Thaddeus. St. Jude, I thank you for your intercession in response to my prayers regarding my relationship. I will always be grateful to you and will spread devotion to you. Be with us always so we may face our problems with courage and serenity.

I encourage devotion to St. Jude. He never fails to help and answer our prayers.

St. Jude Novena ( Pray for 9 days straight at the same time)

St. Jude, glorious apostle, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases, and of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so miserable. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded you to bring visible and speedy help where help was almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly … (Make your request here) and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity.

I promise you o blessed St. Jude to be ever mindful of this great favor and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron and do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.

St. Jude, pray for us and for all who honor you and invoke your aid.

Pray 3 Our Fathers, 3 Hail Mary’s, 3 Glory be to God

  17. Jasmine says:

I prayed before going to bed last night for the Lord to give me hope in the darkness that i was feeling. This morning I prayed the rosary and usual prayers but I felt inspired by the Lord to pray to St.Jude.Today being Thursday .I wanted to join in petition with others as we placed our petitions and interceed to St.Jude. I started by randomly searching for testimonies to him and began reading the story of his life, I was sad when I knew he was martyred too. Understanding how he came to be called the Saint of the hopeless, for helping give victims at war hope in dark situations.
In the past year St.Jude has answered a very big petition for my boyfriend of 3 years to be granted a Job so that we can get married and start a life together. 6 months ago through the intercession of St.Jude and St.Antony and Mother Mary he got not just any job, he got his dream Job and I am so grateful to the Lord for giving him this job. Right now my prayer is for him to get the chance to visit me for a week this sunday, as we have been away from each other and are both filled with so much uncertainty regarding our future and feel very lonely away from each other. I pray St.Jude to accept our prayers and help us restore our faith .Please bring us together and also give us the chance to spend Christmas and new years together, and help us plan the wedding .
St Jude Helper of hopeless and impossible cases i interceed to you to please bring to my cicty him on sunday and let him stay for a week. Thank you St.Jude for this and all the favors we both have recieved through out our Lives. St.Jude pray for all and all who invoke thine aid.

  18. Jasmine says:

St Jude answered my prayer!! 🙂 really fast :D! Praise the Lord. Thank u St.Jude

  19. AJ says:

Yesterday was my last day of the St. Jude Taddeus novena. Even though I have finished the 9 day prayer, I still continue to pray to St. Jude to thank him for the wonderful things he will be doing for me. I am praying and hoping to pass the exam that I took last week. With his intercession and the intercession of the other saints i have asked helped from, I know that God will answer my prayers. I know truly that in the next few days I will be thanking St. Jude Taddeus, St. Clare of Assisi, St. Padre Pio, St. Francis Xavier, St. Joseph of Cupertino and Mother of Perpetual Help. Thank you in advance! 🙂

  20. JC says:

I asked the help of saint jude in the results of our final grade. I knew I was going to failmthe course but after visiting the shrine the professors lowered the passing grade. My final grade was only two points above the passing grade.

  21. RA says:

After reading about Saint Jude I decided to start the novena for the first time. My ex of 2 years and I broke up a year ago and I’ve been praying for reconciliation ever since. We did not speak for that year until recently he texted me out of the blue asking to hangout ; I took this as a sign from God and we have been talking here and there and I decided to start the novena. It is the 8th day and there havent been any results but I’m keeping faith. My results have not come yet but I have faith in God and Saint Jude and I know i will not be left in the dark.

  22. Melissa says:

I have difficulties renewing my staying visa for over a year now. I used to go to church to pray about it and when I go there, I always stay at the same place just near the St Jude statue. I didn’t know about him until one day I decided to get to know more about him. When I discovered that he was the patron saint of hopeless causes I was very happy. I started to pray him but after two days I stopped (still don’t know why) my situation got wors last week. My work permit application was denied, I lost my job the next day. I don’t know how to call my parents and explain to them how i spent 7 years of my life desapointing them. I know big part of this situation is due to my neglect Today is the first day of my novena. I am praying St Jude for his assistance in my immigration application. I still have hope it will work. So dear st Jude please help me with that mater. Thank you

  23. ciera says:

I’ve been using st. Jude green candle since last Thursday which is my first time ever doing anything like that. I was approached by a recipient in the grocery store to tell me about st jude. I would say the second day I’ve seen some miraculous things happen but last night the candle went out on its own. Didn’t light it back until this morning cause I wanted answers. Yesterday was a very emotional Rollercoaster. There was an odd shape in the wax but couldn’t make

  24. ciera says:

It out. Very stained from my family and having crazy fights with boyfriend. Don’t know why all of a sudden. What was so strange was st jude drew an “S” on one blind and two days later a “j” was on the other blinds. It freaked me out a whole lot. Lol but is very hopeful he answer my prayers.

  25. Mary says:

I started praying to St. Jude and Our Blessed Mother during a very sad and confusing time in my life. I especially prayed to St. Jude for my anxiety because i had it for a long time. It took a toll on me and it was not good at all. It was a very hard time in my life and i really thought i would never get through it. I believe he has helped me get through it because i started to feel better and was able to cope with everything going on. I was struggling in many ways. I believe God has answered my prayers and St. Jude has interceded in my life. I strongly encourage devotion to St. Jude and Our Lady!! I learned an important lesson through it all. Never give up and always pray even if everything is going well in your life. Everyday is a gift!

  28. Patricia L says:

I first heard about Saint Jude from a roommate who described the Novena as “difficult but powerful”. The first time I prayed to Saint Jude was in 2012. I prayed that he would change my then-boyfriend’s decision on transferring Medical Schools. To my surprise, the prayer was answered on the second day. I haven’t stopped praying to him since and would always turn to him during my darkest hours — failed relationship to have been reconciled, lost diplomas, passing exams. My most memorable novena with Saint Jude was when I asked him for another chance with a boyfriend. I lost all hope and everyone around me was telling me to let go. On the 9th day, I didn’t feel like I was getting anywhere and all hope seems to have disappeared. Later on, I saw a post on the internet that said “Don’t give up! The miracle is about to happen!” My ex boyfriend and I reconciled that very evening.

I feel guilty that after all these years of praying to him, I never published my experiences with his intercession. I am ashamed to say that my last two novenas weren’t answered the way I wanted them to be and I felt angry and doubtful of his intercession. It makes me sick to my stomach that I doubted him. I now realize that despite the prayers, you have to do your part as well. 🙁 Thank you to all those who shared their testimonies on Saint Jude. And most especially, thank you, Saint Jude! For never letting us down.

  29. Timothy says:

I had prayed to saint jude in the past asking for a job to come through. Although I did not recieve the exact job I was asking for, I did recieve a good job. Just recently I started yet another novena to St. Jude asking that he bring me and my ex girlfriend back together as soon as possible. I had been feeling very bad about my situation so on the 8th day which was yesterday, I decided to pray the novena early in the morning. While I was more than half way through the prayer my ex called asking if I wanted to go to boot camp with her. I felt bad answering the call during the prayer, so after the call I finished the prayer and even did it one aditional time later that day because it was interrupted by the call and I did not want to feel as if I was being unappreciative or forgetting to hold up to my end of the novena. Well anyway, when I went to work out and I saw her, we touched hands, we talked about life, she told me she still cares about me, we gave eachother the tightest and longest goodbye hug ever, and finally before parting, I slowly pulled her close and she tilted her head and we kissed! Before she left I told her, “I am going to marry you one day.” She walked to her car and looked back at me a couple of times before getting in her car and driving away. Talk about having your prayers answered! Today was the last day of this particular novena that was indeed, without a doubt, answered, but tomorrow I will be startimg a new one as my hope is that we will eventually rekindle our relationship and sooner rather than later, get married 🙂 Thank you God in the name of Jesus Christ and St. Jude.

  30. Jena says:

That Troy and I will be stronger and that he will come to me and apologize for all the wrong things he’s done and we both will make it right. He will become a stronger man with a different out look and that we will marry. That he will settle down and get his life right with God and will do right by me and Gray and his kids. In Jesus’ name. Amen

  31. EM says:

I have started a 2nd new Novena for my sister and myself. I am not giving up. I know St. Jude will help us Even those are prayers have not been answered. Thank you St. Jude.

  32. Tara says:

Incredibly late to this conversation but I can confirm that St Jude has at the very least helped me to clear my debts. I’ve realised that it’s not about expecting a large windfall to drop into your lap but rather for what is necessary. I am confident that St Jude will help me to continue to be sensible with what I have and what I need. Pray for St Jude’s intercession, he will always help you. Whether you are humble and grateful enough to see it is up to you.
